Sarah
We knew we were supposed to leave Brandon, Florida on Thursday. God had made that clear.
Monday, we ask Him, “Where do we go?” Silence.
Tuesday morning, same question. Silence.
Wednesday morning, same question. Still silence.
Wednesday night we ask again. This time we get a direction…East.
When we told the Church we were speaking at our situation; two different men at different times said, “Oh Daytona Beach.” Like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Well, that’s all well and dandy, except we don’t know anyone in Daytona Beach.
Hmm God…are you sure about this?
So now it’s Thursday morning.
I go for a run, praying the whole way. “Jesus, we don’t have anywhere to stay tonight. Jesus, I’ll get in that van and head East, but I want to remind You that You say I’m more valuable than gold. So You probably wanna take care of me and find me a place to stay….right?”
I’m sure God was just laughing away, because I came back from the run to a voice mail from my friend Jedediah.
Jedediah was on my sister squad so we did our Race together. I had no idea he lived in Florida. I haven’t seen him since our Race ended a year ago. But at 11:30 the night before, when I found out he lived in the state, I Facebook messaged him, not really expecting to hear anything. But that morning, he was calling to invite us to stay with him!
So two hours later, we’re in the van heading East, toward- wouldn’t ya know it- Daytona Beach.
We got to spend two days with my wonderful friend and his family and church friends. We met and got to fellowship with people from literally all over the world, over a traditional Kenyan meal.
The next day, we spoke at Jed’s college group, which- of course- had had their plans fall through at the last minute and was looking for someone to speak.
I got to bless and reconnect with a friend, and be encouraged by someone who knows me and my heart.
The thing that got me the most, though, was the silence.
Because sometimes God wants to blow you away, but you have to be willing to just go East. You have to be okay with the silence and the not really knowing. Had we known on Monday we were heading to Daytona and Jedediah’s, it still would have been a blessed time, but God wouldn’t have blown me away.
So trust Him when He only gives you the next step of the staircase. Let Him blow you away. He will.

This post was truly inspiring. Have been following up on you guys, and this one spoke to me. The other night I was in tears confused why my God wouldn’t answer me. I continued to read His Word, pray to Him and walk with Him, with no response. I had to believe He was just silent because I was doing well…But I was very concerned I might be doing something wrong to silence my Father. Thank you for reminding me He will speak when it is time for Him to speak. Love, McKenzie. (New Testament Church, Brandon)
It was soooo good to meet you McKenzie. We are praying for you and your dream! Keep pressing in…
